Dhaka, Oct 31 (V7N)- The Bangladesh women's national football team, fresh off their victory in the SAFF Women's Championship 2024, returned to Dhaka on Thursday to a hero's welcome from officials, fans, and leaders of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). The team’s remarkable achievement was celebrated with great enthusiasm.

Arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 2:15 PM, the players were greeted by BFF officials who presented them with bouquets and warm congratulations. This year's triumph marks Bangladesh's second consecutive SAFF Women's Championship title, showcasing the team's exceptional skills and determination.

The championship was secured with a thrilling 2-1 win over Nepal, the six-time finalists and hosts, in Wednesday's final match held in Kathmandu. This victory continues their undefeated streak in the tournament, adding to their previous win against Nepal in the 2022 SAFF Women's Championship final, where they emerged victorious with a 3-1 score, claiming their first title.

Noteworthy performances came from Ritu Porna Chakma, who was honored as the Most Valuable Player, and Rupna Chakma, recognized as the Best Goalkeeper for her outstanding contributions throughout the tournament.

Following the airport festivities, the team participated in a jubilant parade to the BFF headquarters in Motijheel. They traveled in an open-roof bus along the elevated expressway, proudly displaying the SAFF trophy.

Later in the evening, the team was honored at a special reception hosted by the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, with Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan also meeting the players at the BFF headquarters.
