Habiganj, Mar 18 (V7N) – Rising football star Hamza Chowdhury, who has become a sensation in Bangladesh's football scene, recently expressed his admiration for cricket legend Shakib Al Hasan, calling him the country's megastar.
In response to a question from journalists at his village home in Snanghat, Bahubal upazila of Habiganj, Chowdhury humbly stated, "I don't think I am at the level of comparing with Shakib, he is a megastar." The 3-hour post-match travel and the 14-hour flight back to Bangladesh did not show any signs of fatigue, as Hamza, alongside his father Morshed Dewan Chowdhury, appeared enthusiastic and energetic during the press interaction.
When asked about his preferred jersey number, Hamza shared that while numbers 17 and 10 are often associated with great players, his favorite number is 8, reflecting his role as a defensive midfielder.
On the topic of playing in the World Cup, Hamza remained grounded, stating that he aims to take things step by step and focus on the Asian Cup qualifiers first.
Bangladesh is set to face India in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in Shillong on March 25. Despite a hectic schedule, Hamza joined the national squad after finishing his English Champions League match, receiving a warm welcome from the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials upon his arrival in Sylhet.
