Singapore, July 21, (V7N) – England has been confirmed as the host nation for the finals of the next three editions of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), covering the years 2027, 2029, and 2031. The decision was finalized at the ICC Annual Conference held in Singapore.

This marks a continuation of England's involvement in hosting the WTC finals, having successfully hosted the 2021, 2023, and 2025 editions. Despite earlier discussions about India possibly hosting the 2027 final, the ICC opted to maintain consistency by selecting England, citing the country's proven track record in hosting neutral Test matches with strong spectator turnout.

Richard Gould, Chief Executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), expressed his delight at the decision. “We are very pleased that the finals of the next three World Test Championships will be held in England and Wales. This proves that the audience has a deep love for this format and the interest of fans around the world to visit this country is strong. It is a matter of pride for us to be able to organize such a big event,” he said.

England’s venues have previously demonstrated their capacity to attract large audiences even for neutral fixtures. The 2023 India-Australia final at The Oval and the 2021 New Zealand-India final in Southampton (Hampshire), held under COVID-19 restrictions, both saw remarkable attendance.

To date, the WTC titles have been won by three different teams: New Zealand (2021), Australia (2023), and South Africa (2025), further showcasing the competitive balance and global appeal of Test cricket’s premier championship.
