New York, Sep 03 (V7N) – Serbian legend Novak Djokovic has stormed into the semifinals of the US Open after defeating American star Taylor Fritz 3-1 in a hard-fought quarterfinal clash at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows.

Djokovic started strong, taking the first set 6-3. Fritz fought back fiercely in the second set but fell short 7-5. The American managed to turn the tide in the third set, winning 6-3, but Djokovic’s powerful baseline shots proved too much in the fourth, sealing the match 6-4.

Meanwhile, world number one Carlos Alcaraz of Spain cruised past Czech player Jiri Lehecka in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-4, maintaining his flawless run without dropping a single set in this year’s tournament.

Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, will now meet Alcaraz in a blockbuster semifinal showdown on September 6 at Arthur Ashe Stadium — a matchup widely seen as a battle between tennis’ reigning legend and its rising star.
