Philadelphia, Jun 20 (V7N) – Brazil answered their critics in emphatic fashion as Matheus Cunha inspired a 3-0 victory over Haiti, transforming the Seleção's attack after a disappointing opening draw with Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Following criticism of Brazil's lack of attacking fluency in their 1-1 draw against Morocco, head coach Carlo Ancelotti responded by making two changes to his starting lineup. The most significant was bringing Matheus Cunha into the centre-forward role in place of Igor Thiago.

The decision proved decisive.

Cunha scored twice in Saturday's Group C clash in Philadelphia, leading Brazil to a comfortable victory while showcasing the movement, work rate and creativity that had been missing in the opening match.

Beyond his two goals, Cunha's intelligent positioning and willingness to drop deep created a stronger link between midfield and attack, giving Brazil a more balanced and dynamic offensive structure. His performance also allowed Ancelotti's diamond midfield system to function effectively for the first time in the tournament.

Lucas Paquetá, who faced criticism after his display against Morocco, looked far more influential against Haiti. Operating on the left side of midfield, he combined effectively with Vinícius Júnior, with the trio developing excellent chemistry throughout the match.

Cunha's relentless movement, Paquetá's improved involvement and Vinícius' pace and creativity added a new dimension to Brazil's attack. All three goals originated from moves built primarily down the left flank.

Since Neymar's long-term injury, Brazil have often struggled to establish such fluid combinations on the left side. Cunha's habit of dropping into deeper areas to help build attacks created additional space for both Vinícius and Paquetá to exploit.

Although Brazil are expected to face much tougher opposition as the tournament progresses, the convincing victory has restored confidence within the squad.

The Seleção now sit at the top of Group C on goal difference ahead of Morocco and will face Scotland in their final group-stage match, where they will look to secure first place and continue their resurgence.
