Leeds, Aug 19 (V7N)- Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been ruled out of the first Test against England due to a hand injury.

Pakistan head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed confirmed that Babar will not feature in the opening Test at Headingley, which begins today.

Babar will be replaced by Salman Ali Agha in the Pakistan lineup.

The star batter injured his right hand on the second day of Pakistan’s three-day warm-up match last Friday. He scored five runs after coming to the crease before being forced to leave the field due to the injury.

Although Pakistan will miss Babar in the first Test, coach Sarfaraz is hopeful that the captain will recover in time to feature in the second Test of the series.

Pakistan’s most recent Test assignment was a two-match series against the West Indies, which ended 1-1. Babar scored half-centuries in both Tests of that series.
