Dhaka, Sep 18 (V7N)- Bangladesh is set to compete in the Under-18 Five-a-Side Hockey World Cup after receiving a formal invitation from the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
The FIH has informed the Bangladesh Hockey Federation of the opportunity following a vacancy in the World Cup lineup.
Bangladesh's U-18 team participated in the Five-a-Side Asia Cup in Muscat, Oman, last July. Three teams from the tournament secured direct qualification for the World Cup, while Bangladesh finished as the first standby team.
With a place becoming available, the 'Red and Greens' have now been invited to participate in the global tournament.
The U-18 Five-a-Side Hockey World Cup is scheduled to be held in Ismailia, Egypt, from December 7 to 12. The tournament will provide Bangladesh's young players with an opportunity to compete on the international stage and showcase their talent.
Bangladesh also participated in the Youth Hockey World Cup last year, adding further international experience to the country's emerging hockey players.
