Madrid, Oct 15 (V7N)- Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has reportedly been handed a four-match suspension by the Spanish football authorities following an incident involving an opponent and a confrontation with the referee during a La Liga match against Villarreal.

The Brazilian forward scored after coming on as a substitute before being sent off after a video assistant referee (VAR) review. He was shown a red card for pulling the hair of Villarreal player Nathan Saliba, according to the report.

Vinicius reacted angrily to the dismissal and protested the referee’s decision. His teammates intervened to calm him down and escorted him from the field.

The disciplinary committee reportedly imposed a two-match suspension for the on-field offence and an additional two matches for his conduct while protesting the referee’s decision, bringing the total ban to four matches.

Under the reported ruling, Vinicius would miss matches against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander and Valencia. His potential absence from the El Clasico against Barcelona on October 25 would be a significant setback for Real Madrid.

Without one of their leading attacking players, Real Madrid would face an added challenge in the crucial fixture, particularly as the team reportedly trails Barcelona by six points in the La Liga standings.

The suspension details and the status of any appeal should be confirmed through an official announcement from the relevant football authorities or Real Madrid.
