Barcelona, Nov 01 (V7N)- Barcelona bounced back from their El Clasico defeat with a commanding 6-1 victory over Alaves on Saturday, October 31, reclaiming the top spot in the Spanish La Liga standings.

Raphinha and Lamine Yamal scored twice each, while Fermin Lopez and substitute Anthony Gordon added one goal apiece to complete the emphatic win at Spotify Camp Nou. The result put Hansi Flick’s side on 30 points, two ahead of Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona had suffered a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in their previous league match, ending their nine-match winning streak. However, the Catalan side responded with an impressive attacking display to reassert their position at the top.

Atletico Madrid had temporarily moved into first place earlier on Saturday after defeating Levante 2-0, but Barcelona reclaimed the lead with their victory.

Barcelona Dominate First Half

Barcelona opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Raphinha finished a cross from Fermin Lopez following an impressive team move.

Lopez doubled the lead in the 23rd minute, collecting a pass from Yamal before firing a powerful shot past Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera.

Raphinha struck again in the 41st minute after Lopez won possession and created the opportunity, giving the hosts a three-goal advantage.

Yamal made it 4-0 in first-half stoppage time with a superb low strike from the edge of the penalty area, capping a dominant opening period.

Yamal and Gordon Complete the Rout

Barcelona continued to control the match after the break. Yamal scored his second goal in the 64th minute, finishing a through ball from substitute Gabriel Jesus with a delicate chip over Sivera.

Anthony Gordon, introduced from the bench, added the sixth goal in the 81st minute after receiving a through pass from Rodri and lifting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Alaves scored a consolation goal in the 84th minute when Mariano Diaz capitalised on a defensive error by Rodri to beat Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

The late goal did little to diminish Barcelona’s dominant performance as they secured three valuable points in the title race.

Raphinha Leads the Scoring Charts

Raphinha’s brace took his league tally to 15 goals, four more than Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, according to the figures provided. Yamal moved to 10 league goals with his double against Alaves.

Barcelona will look to build on the victory as they continue their campaign under Flick, with the team aiming to maintain their lead at the top of La Liga.
