Dhaka, Feb 17 (V7N) – TikTok has removed 11.6 million videos uploaded from Bangladesh for violating its community guidelines. Most of these videos were automatically deleted, the platform revealed at a digital security conference jointly organized by BTRC and TikTok on Monday (February 17).
Speaking at the event, Sidra Jalil, TikTok's Outreach and Partnership Manager, stated that:
96% of the videos were removed within 24 hours.
99% of the content violations were detected and removed automatically using AI, without requiring manual intervention.
At the event, BTRC Chairman emphasized that:
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will collaborate with global technology companies to strengthen digital security.
The government does not aim to control social media but rather seeks to create a supportive environment where users become aware of harmful and misleading content.
This move aligns with Bangladesh’s broader efforts to promote responsible digital behavior while ensuring online safety.
