DHAKA, May 20, (V7N) – Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, today announced that the introduction of Starlink is not anticipated to affect Bangladesh, even amidst the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China.
Taiyeb's comments came during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital, where he was responding to a question from reporters.
He reiterated Bangladesh's dedication to integrating the most cutting-edge communication technologies globally. He pointed out that Chinese technology is presently being employed in developing the country's 4G and 5G network infrastructure and core systems.
"In addition, several projects are underway under Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) and Teletalk with Chinese funding and engineers," he added.
The special assistant further highlighted that numerous Chinese companies are actively operating in Bangladesh as vendors for mobile network operators.
“We want both Chinese and American companies to be able to operate here freely, by respecting our national interests,” Taiyeb stated. “If a Chinese company like GW wishes to enter the market, it will receive the same policy support.”
He also noted that other international companies, including Amazon Kuiper, Telesat, Satteloit, and OneWeb (UK), have shown interest in entering the Bangladeshi market.
“If they choose to do business here, we are prepared to offer them equal policy support,” he affirmed.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder were present at the briefing.
