Caracas, Jan 04 (V7N)- SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has announced that free Starlink internet service will be provided to the people of Venezuela for a limited period. The service is set to continue until February 3, according to a post on SpaceX’s official Facebook page and Musk’s social media accounts.

The announcement comes amid the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by US forces. In a video released by US authorities, President Maduro was seen being led away in handcuffs.

SpaceX stated that the initiative is intended “in solidarity with the people of Venezuela”, providing connectivity during a period of political uncertainty.

Meanwhile, Venezuela’s Supreme Court has ordered Vice President Delcy Rodriguez to assume the role of acting president following Maduro’s detention, escalating the political developments in the country.
