Johor, Oct 10 (V7N)- A serious explosion and fire broke out in the SILC industrial area of Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri in Johor, Malaysia, injuring three Bangladeshi workers on Thursday morning. The explosion, which occurred at around 11:30 am , resulted in significant damage to several chemical factories.

The injured workers, who sustained 30% burns , were rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in critical condition. Their identities have not yet been disclosed. The factory authorities took immediate action by transporting them to the hospital before the fire department arrived.

Iskandar Puteri Fire Station Operations Commander Mohammad Faiz Suleiman reported that firefighting teams from six fire stations responded quickly to the scene. A total of eight fire engines were deployed to combat the blaze. After hours of intense effort, the fire was brought under control at around 4 pm .

The explosion and fire caused extensive damage, with one logistics warehouse reported to be 80% destroyed and three factories, part of a chemical company, 90% burnt . Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the explosion.
