Jammu and Kashmir, Oct 16 (V7N) — After six years of President’s rule, Jammu and Kashmir will see the formation of a democratic government. The Indian media outlet The Hindu reported that the decision to withdraw President’s rule came after National Conference leader Omar Abdullah met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha last Friday and demanded the formation of a government.

Elections were recently held for the 90-seat Assembly, marking the first time in a decade that residents of the region could participate in voting. The Congress and National Conference alliance secured a majority, paving the way for the formation of a new government.

Reports suggest that Omar Abdullah, a former Chief Minister, is likely to take the oath as the new Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir next week. The restoration of democracy in the region marks a significant political shift, as the area had been under direct central rule for six years.

This election and the subsequent formation of the government are being hailed as crucial steps toward restoring normalcy and governance in Jammu and Kashmir after years of political uncertainty.
