Australia, Nov 03 (V7N)— Cassius, the world's largest crocodile, has died at the age of approximately 110 years in captivity at an animal sanctuary in Australia. The giant saltwater crocodile measured 18 feet in length and weighed around 1,000 kilograms.

Caught in northern Australia in 1984, Cassius had since resided at the Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat on the Queensland coast. In 2011, he was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the largest captive crocodile.

The sanctuary announced his passing on social media, stating, "Cassius will be deeply missed. He will remain in our love and memories - in our hearts forever."

Cassius's remarkable life and size made him a beloved figure among wildlife enthusiasts and visitors to the sanctuary, where he was a central attraction for nearly four decades. His death marks the end of an era for the sanctuary and crocodile conservation efforts worldwide.
