London, Nov 19 (V7N) — The United Kingdom has announced a fresh wave of sanctions targeting entities in Iran and Russia. These measures, reported by Reuters, focus on an Iranian airline, a shipping group, and a Russian cargo vessel, Port Olia-3.

The sanctions come as part of ongoing international efforts to curb Russian military actions in Ukraine. Since the onset of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022, Moscow has faced numerous sanctions, primarily spearheaded by the United States, with the UK joining in targeting allies accused of supporting Russia.

The British Foreign Office stated that Iran's state-owned airlines and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines have had their assets frozen for allegedly supplying Russia with weapons to bolster its war efforts in Ukraine.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy criticised the collaboration, saying, "Iran's attempts to undermine global security are dangerous and unacceptable. We urge Tehran to halt its support for Russia's illegal war in Ukraine."

The sanctions also extend to the Russian cargo ship Port Olia-3, which has been implicated in transporting military equipment to Russia.

This latest move underscores the UK’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine and curbing any external support to Moscow’s military activities.
