Meghalaya, Dec 25 (V7N) — Indian authorities have arrested 18 Bangladeshi nationals for illegal entry into the country, with arrests made on Monday and Tuesday across the states of Delhi and Meghalaya, according to Tripura's online news outlet Jagran Khabar.

On Tuesday, during an investigation into a murder case in Delhi, police uncovered and detained 11 individuals, five of whom were identified as Bangladeshi citizens. They were arrested for entering India without proper documentation.

In a separate incident the same day, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals at the Bangladesh-India border in East Khasia district, Meghalaya. Alongside them, two Indian brokers facilitating their entry were also detained.

On Monday, the BSF arrested another 10 Bangladeshi nationals for illegal entry from the same border region in Meghalaya. During the operation, sugar and drugs worth an estimated Tk 10 lakh were recovered from their possession.

Authorities are continuing their investigations into these incidents as they work to curb illegal border crossings and related activities.
