SEOUL, Jan 1,  (V7N) -Investigators have successfully extracted initial data from one of the black boxes of the Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 that crashed recently, resulting in South Korea's worst aviation disaster on home soil, which claimed 179 lives.

Deputy Minister for Civil Aviation Joo Jong-wan announced on Wednesday that the cockpit voice recorder's data extraction process had been completed. "The initial extraction has already been completed," he stated, while experts continue to work on retrieving data from the flight data recorder.

The crash has drawn widespread attention as officials seek to determine the causes behind the tragic incident. Further updates are expected as investigators analyze the retrieved information.
