Bandipora, Jan 04 (V7N) — Three Indian soldiers tragically lost their lives when an army truck skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in the Sak Payen area of Bandipora district. The accident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM local time on Saturday, with officials attributing the incident to adverse weather conditions.

The Indian Army confirmed the accident, citing poor visibility caused by heavy fog and inclement weather as contributing factors. In a statement on the social media platform Xe (formerly Twitter), the Army expressed its deep condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers, describing them as "brave hearts who were on duty."

This marks the second such incident in recent months. In December, a similar accident occurred in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir, where an army truck fell into a 300-foot-deep gorge, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers.

Officials are investigating the latest incident to assess potential safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the region's treacherous terrain.
