Washington, D.C., Jan 20 (V7N) — Donald Trump has officially returned to the White House for a second term as President of the United States after being sworn in on Monday. His inauguration, held in the Capitol Rotunda due to extreme cold weather, marks the beginning of what he has described as a new era of "American strength and prosperity."

Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office, with Trump pledging to "faithfully execute the office of President of the United States" and to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution."

Trump has promised swift action on his first day back in office, including signing over 200 executive actions. Among these are measures to:

Launch a mass deportation program targeting illegal immigrants.

Increase oil drilling and loosen environmental regulations.

End diversity programs.

“We will put America first, and work will begin on Monday,” Trump declared at a rally on Sunday evening. He vowed to address what he called America’s "four-year decline" with "historic speed and energy."

Elon Musk, who joined Trump on stage during Sunday’s rally, will play a key role in the administration, leading efforts to cut government spending. Musk stated, “We will make America strong for the century.”

Other notable attendees at the inauguration included tech leaders Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, outgoing President Joe Biden, and former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. Members of the international community were also present to witness the ceremony.

In his post-oath address, Trump emphasised unity, strength, and justice. He called on Americans to rally behind his administration's vision of a revitalised nation. "The curtain has fallen on America's decline," he proclaimed. "Together, we will solve every crisis and ensure a prosperous future for all."

Due to freezing temperatures, the ceremony was moved indoors, echoing Ronald Reagan’s 1985 precedent. The traditional parade and concert were held at Capitol One Arena, ensuring the safety and comfort of attendees.

As the nation embarks on a new chapter under Trump’s leadership, his administration is poised to implement transformative policies that could significantly impact both domestic and global politics.
