Islamabad, Jan 23 (V7N) — A significant number of Pakistani prisoners serving sentences in Saudi Arabian jails have been released, primarily those incarcerated due to financial difficulties and their inability to pay fines. This development highlights ongoing efforts to support migrant workers who face legal challenges abroad.

During his tenure as Prime Minister, Imran Khan initiated measures to secure the release of Pakistanis imprisoned overseas. He emphasised the vital role migrant workers play in Pakistan's economy and reiterated the state’s moral responsibility to ensure their welfare. These initiatives have contributed to the repatriation of many Pakistanis from foreign jails.

The government continues to advocate for the rights and well-being of Pakistani expatriates, particularly those in vulnerable situations, by providing financial assistance and diplomatic support. This commitment underscores the nation’s recognition of its migrant workforce as an essential pillar of economic growth and development.
