Feb 28 (V7N) – The human rights organization Democracy Now for the Arab World (Dawn) has submitted a 172-page petition to the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing US President Joe Biden, former Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and former Secretary of State Antony Blinken of complicity in Israel's alleged genocide and war crimes against the people of Gaza.

The petition calls for an investigation into the excessive role of US officials in the Israeli war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip. According to Dawn, these officials are accused of enabling and supporting Israel's actions despite the clear evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Reed Brody, a Dawn board member, acknowledged that the case may face political barriers and could be hindered for those reasons, but emphasized the importance of the message they are sending. "War crimes were committed in Gaza, and three top US officials clearly played a role in them," Brody stated.

The petition alleges that Israel has been committing a genocidal campaign in Gaza for over 16 months, beginning in October 2023, with the Biden administration providing extensive political and military support to Tel Aviv. The human rights group claims that the billions of dollars worth of military aid from Washington have facilitated Israel's actions, which have caused significant destruction and loss of life in Gaza.

Brody added that it is now up to the ICC to decide whether it will move the case forward or allow further destruction to occur in Gaza, where countless lives continue to be lost under the rubble.
