Eastern Ukraine, Mar 08 (V7N) – At least 12 people have been killed following a Russian attack on eastern Ukraine, which began on the night of Friday, March 7. Ukrainian emergency services reported the casualties, including 11 dead and 30 injured in the central area of Dobropilia in the Donetsk region.

The attack, which targeted Ukraine's power grid and gas production facilities, was part of ongoing strikes by Russia in eastern Europe. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service has confirmed the devastating toll on civilians, highlighting the destruction in the area.

In parallel to the military assault, US and Ukrainian officials are scheduled to hold talks in Saudi Arabia aimed at exploring a temporary ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. These discussions come amid continued international efforts to mediate in the conflict.

In a related political development, Donald Trump, former US President, suspended US aid to Ukraine after publicly rebuking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Trump expressed his doubts about the Ukrainian leadership, stating that it was becoming increasingly difficult to engage with Ukraine. He mentioned, “They don’t have the cards,” and added that dealing with Russia might be easier.
