Santo Domingo, Apr 10 (V7N) – The death toll from the roof collapse at a nightclub in the Dominican Republic has reached 184, with many still feared trapped under the rubble. The tragic incident occurred on April 8 at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. CNN reports that over 150 people have been rescued, and 400 rescue workers are working tirelessly to locate any survivors.
The rescue operations are expected to continue for 24 to 36 hours as authorities struggle to retrieve those still buried beneath the debris. 200 individuals were injured in the disaster, with several victims still being treated for their injuries in nearby hospitals.
The country’s president confirmed that the governor of a municipality was among those who perished in the collapse after being transported to the hospital. Additionally, Ruby Perez, a renowned musician who was performing at the nightclub during the accident, was also injured in the incident.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the roof collapse, with the focus now on saving as many lives as possible.
