Moscow, June 20 (V7N) — Russia has issued a stern warning to Israel regarding any potential attack on Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant. Alexei Likhachev, head of Russia’s state nuclear agency Rosatom, cautioned that an assault on the facility could trigger the largest nuclear disaster in history.

The Bushehr plant, located in Iran’s Bushehr province, is the country’s only operational nuclear power station and was constructed with Russian assistance. Numerous Russian workers remain on-site to maintain operations.

While the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initially claimed to have attacked the facility, they later retracted the statement. Rosatom’s chief affirmed that no injuries or damages have occurred near the plant so far.

Likhachev emphasized the gravity of such an attack, highlighting that radiation knows no borders and that any damage to the nuclear plant could have catastrophic consequences far exceeding previous nuclear incidents in human history. He urged Israel to exercise restraint to avoid triggering a global disaster.
