Tehran, June 20 (V7N) – Former Israeli Defense Minister Meir Masri warned on social media platform X that following Israel’s operation against Iran, Pakistan’s nuclear program could be the next target.
This comment came amid earlier reports suggesting Pakistan might retaliate if Israel launched a nuclear attack on Iran. However, Pakistani officials dismissed these claims. Pakistan’s Defense Minister emphasized that the country’s nuclear program is strictly for national interests and defense.
Shortly after Pakistan’s firm stance, Masri announced the potential targeting of Pakistan’s nuclear facilities by Israel.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir had a luncheon meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House. Trump expressed that he was “honored” to meet the Pakistani military leader.
The meeting followed a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan after rising tensions sparked by a militant attack in India’s Pahalgam last month. Trump praised General Munir for his “outstanding role” in facilitating the ceasefire.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly revealed that General Munir had urged President Trump to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for preventing a nuclear war between India and Pakistan, the key reason behind inviting him to the White House.
