Pyongyang, Sep 14 (V7N) – Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has warned that the joint military exercises of the United States, South Korea, and Japan could create a “dangerous situation” for the participating nations themselves.
North Korea’s state-run news agency KCNA reported Sunday that Kim described the drills as a serious threat to Pyongyang.
“A reckless display of force will bring negative consequences for the countries,” she warned.
The three allies launched their annual defensive exercise, “Freedom Age,” on Monday, aimed at strengthening air, naval, and cyber operational capabilities in response to North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs.
Pyongyang has accused the exercises of being a clear provocation and part of a long-standing hostile strategy. However, Washington and Seoul maintain that the drills are purely defensive in nature.
