Washington, Nov 26 (V7N) — US President Donald Trump has claimed that Russia is willing to reach an agreement to end the ongoing war, prompting Washington to send a special envoy to Moscow for talks with President Vladimir Putin. The information was reported by Qatar-based Al Jazeera on Wednesday (November 26).

Diplomatic activity has intensified following a detailed meeting between US and Ukrainian diplomats in Geneva two days earlier, where they discussed a comprehensive peace plan.

According to reports, Trump’s proposed peace framework would require Kyiv to agree to territorial concessions, military limitations, and abandoning its NATO membership aspirations — conditions Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized as aligning with Russia’s demands. However, Ukraine has expressed full support for the “key points” of the initial US ceasefire proposal.

President Trump responded after Zelensky’s remarks, expressing frustration over what he described as Kyiv’s lack of gratitude toward Washington. He voiced his displeasure on social media while US and Ukrainian representatives were meeting in Geneva to discuss a 28-point peace plan.

Speaking at the White House, Trump acknowledged that resolving the conflict would “not be easy” but insisted, “We are very close to implementing the agreement.”
