Tehran, Nov 27 (V7N) — A Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jet was seen flying over the skies of Tehran, sparking widespread discussion after multiple videos surfaced on social media on Wednesday.
In several clips, residents claimed they heard a sonic boom, fueling speculation about the aircraft’s origin.
Local media, citing military sources, reported that the jet belongs to the Iranian Air Force and was added to its fleet only a few days ago. According to an Air Force statement, the aircraft was conducting a routine training flight over the capital.
The sighting comes amid reports from several international outlets suggesting that Iran recently received a new fleet of MiG-29s from Russia. It is believed that the aircraft have been deployed to the Siraj Air Base in Fars Province.
