Rome, Feb 08 (V7N)- Italy has decided not to join the Gaza Peace Board, citing constitutional limitations, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Saturday (February 7).
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that several articles in the Peace Board charter conflict with the Italian constitution. However, he added that Italy remains open to discussions on any initiatives aimed at establishing peace in the region.
Tajani also mentioned that despite being a close ally of the United States, Rome could not respond positively to US President Donald Trump’s invitation to join the Board. Apart from Italy, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom also chose not to participate in the controversial Board of Peace.
So far, 26 countries have responded to Trump’s invitation to join the initiative.
