Riyadh, Mar 02 (V7N) — A drone attack has targeted the Ras Tanura oil refinery operated by Saudi Aramco, according to a report by Bloomberg on Monday.
Videos circulating on social media showed black smoke rising from the facility following a fire. Authorities said the blaze was brought under control quickly, and no immediate reports of casualties were available.
Ras Tanura, one of the world’s largest oil refining and export hubs, temporarily suspended operations as a precaution after the incident, the report said.
Initial assessments suggest the attack may be linked to escalating regional tensions, with speculation that Iran could be behind the strike, though no official confirmation has been issued.
Energy analysts warn that any disruption at Ras Tanura could have implications for global oil supply chains, given the facility’s strategic importance in international energy markets.
