Pakistan's foreign ministry has strongly denounced the recent attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus by Israeli forces, labeling it as a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty. The ministry issued a statement expressing deep concern over the incident, stressing that such actions only serve to escalate tensions in the already volatile region.
According to reports from Al-Jazeera, the foreign ministry called upon the United Nations Security Council to intervene and restrain Israel from further "misadventures" in the Middle East. The statement emphasized that the attack on the consulate undermines stability and security in the region, urging for immediate action to prevent further escalation.

Pakistan extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack, as well as to the people and government of Iran. The assault on the Iranian consulate comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, with both countries engaged in a series of hostilities in recent months.
Reports indicate that among those killed in the attack was Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, as confirmed by a Lebanese intelligence source. Iranian state television also reported casualties among Iranian diplomats present at the consulate during the assault.
The incident further exacerbates tensions in the Middle East, following previous confrontations between Israeli forces and Iranian-backed groups in the region. Last year, Israel launched a counterattack in response to provocations by Hamas, leading to heightened hostilities across the Gaza Strip.
In addition to the attack on Gaza, Hezbollah, a prominent Iranian ally, also engaged in hostilities against Israel, prompting retaliatory airstrikes from Israeli forces targeting Hezbollah fighters and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria. These actions have further destabilized the region, raising concerns about the potential for broader conflict.
As tensions continue to simmer in the Middle East, Pakistan's condemnation of the Israeli attack underscores the importance of international intervention to prevent further escalation and restore stability in the region.
