Doha, Mar 19 (V7N) — The Qatar government has ordered Iranian military and security officials based in the country to leave, following an attack on Qatar’s natural gas refinery. The directive was issued on Wednesday, according to a report by France 24.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry of Qatar stated that Iranian officials, along with related personnel at the Iranian embassy, are considered undesirable and must leave within 24 hours. The authorities made the announcement via social media.
The refinery attack, carried out by Iran, caused significant damage to Qatar’s natural gas infrastructure. Officials emphasized that the expulsion of Iranian personnel is aimed at preventing escalation and avoiding a potential war situation.
This development marks a sharp deterioration in relations between the two countries amid rising tensions in the region over energy security and military activity.
