Tehran/Beirut, Apr 10 (V7N)– Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon could render peace negotiations with the United States meaningless.
According to reports by Al Jazeera, the Iranian president said that continued military actions by Israel risk undermining diplomatic efforts in the region.
Lebanon has been facing a severe humanitarian crisis following recent Israeli strikes. At least 300 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured in a single day, triggering nationwide mourning.
Condemning the attacks, Pezeshkian described them as a violation of ceasefire understandings and warned that such actions could derail ongoing negotiations. He also reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon, stating that Tehran would not abandon the Lebanese people under any circumstances.
On the other hand, Benjamin Netanyahu has indicated a willingness to pursue ceasefire discussions amid the escalating conflict.
Netanyahu said he had ordered immediate direct talks with Lebanon, claiming that the request for negotiations had come from Beirut.
The contrasting positions highlight growing tensions in the region, with diplomatic efforts facing uncertainty as violence continues. Analysts warn that without an immediate de-escalation, prospects for meaningful peace talks may remain fragile.
