Beirut, Apr 23 (V7N) — At least five people have been killed in fresh Israeli air and drone strikes across southern Lebanon, in incidents that reportedly violate an ongoing ceasefire.

Journalist among the death

According to reports, journalist Amal Khalil was killed while gathering news in a southern village.

  • She was reportedly targeted in an initial strike

  • A second strike followed, confirming her death

Khalil was widely regarded as a prominent and courageous journalist in Lebanon.

Another journalist, Zainab Faraj, was seriously injured in the same attack.

Civilian casualties and damage

Rescue teams also recovered the body of another civilian from under the rubble. Additional drone strikes:

  • Killed two more civilians in the Nabatieh region

  • Targeted the town of Yahmer al-Shafiq

UN peacekeeper killed

The Israel Defense Forces also reportedly struck positions linked to UN peacekeeping forces, resulting in the death of a French peacekeeper.

Escalating concerns

These renewed attacks have intensified concerns over ceasefire violations and rising instability along the Lebanon-Israel border.
