Beijing, May 05 (V7N) — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is visiting China today as part of ongoing diplomatic consultations between Tehran and Beijing, according to Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency.
During the visit, Araghchi is scheduled to hold talks with China’s foreign minister in Beijing. Discussions are expected to cover bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments, amid rising geopolitical tensions.
The visit comes at a sensitive time in global diplomacy, as US President Donald Trump is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for a two-day summit beginning May 14. Earlier plans for a March meeting were reportedly postponed due to tensions linked to the Iran-Israel conflict.
Analysts say the overlapping diplomatic engagements highlight growing strategic competition and negotiation efforts among major global powers, particularly involving Iran, the United States, and China.
