Beirut, May 10 (V7N)- Lebanon has witnessed another bloody day despite the ongoing ceasefire situation, with at least 39 people reportedly killed in a series of attacks over the past 24 hours.
According to reports published by the BBC citing Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, multiple areas across the country came under heavy attack on Saturday.
Among the dead were at least seven people, including children, who were killed in an attack carried out by the Israel Defense Forces in the southern Sidon region of Lebanon.
Reports said several civilians were also killed and injured in separate drone and guided missile strikes targeting different areas of the country. Residential houses were damaged in the attacks, while emergency warnings were issued to local residents.
The latest escalation comes after Washington-mediated second-round peace talks aimed at reducing tensions in the region.
According to Lebanese sources, the number of people killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began has now exceeded 500.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah has also claimed responsibility for retaliatory attacks targeting several Israeli locations.
Local authorities said more than 120 people, including women and children, have been killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon during the past week alone.
With the renewed violence continuing, the death toll in Lebanon since the latest phase of conflict began on March 2 has reportedly risen to 2,795.
