Washington, May 22 (V7N) – Donald Trump has claimed that US forces now have complete control over maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and confirmed that a naval blockade around Iranian ports remains active.

According to a report by Turkey-based media outlet Anadolu Agency published on Thursday (May 21), Trump said the United States opposes the imposition of any toll or restrictions on international shipping through the strategically important waterway.

The US president also stated that Washington is closely monitoring ongoing discussions between Iran and Oman regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump further reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to possess highly enriched uranium. He warned that the United States would locate and destroy Iran’s stockpiled uranium reserves if necessary.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and continuing concerns over regional maritime security and nuclear negotiations.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that at least 31 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz during the last 24 hours despite the ongoing tensions and naval restrictions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important waterways, carrying a significant portion of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
