Beirut, Jun 10 (V7N) – Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting Israeli military positions and equipment along the southern Lebanon border, amid continuing tensions between the two sides.
In a statement released by its media office, Hezbollah said it carried out multiple operations from Monday night through Tuesday, using drones, missiles, and rockets against Israeli troops, armored vehicles, and military command centers.
According to the group, Israeli military personnel and vehicles were targeted in several locations, including Bayada, Rashaf, Al-Qawjah, and Qantara in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah also claimed that two Israeli armored vehicles were destroyed in separate drone strikes conducted in the Jawtar Al-Sharqiyah and Khayam areas.
In another significant claim, the group said it successfully intercepted an Israeli Hermes-450 reconnaissance drone in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region using a surface-to-air missile. The Hermes-450 is widely used by Israel for surveillance and intelligence-gathering missions.
The Iran-backed group further stated that it launched a squadron of explosive-laden drones against the Israeli naval facility at Ras an-Naqura, known in Israel as Rosh Hanikra, near the Mediterranean coast.
There was no immediate confirmation from Israeli military authorities regarding Hezbollah's claims, and the extent of any damage or casualties could not be independently verified.
The latest attacks come amid ongoing cross-border hostilities that have raised concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict. Exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces have intensified periodically, particularly following broader tensions involving Iran and its regional allies.
Military analysts warn that continued attacks and counterattacks along the Israel-Lebanon frontier could further destabilize the region and increase the risk of a larger confrontation.
As of Tuesday evening, both sides remained on high alert, with security concerns continuing to dominate developments along the border.
