The US Department of Defense confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday (June 11). According to officials, an issue was detected by the building's internal automated monitoring system, prompting the immediate deployment of a specialized hazardous materials response team.
Authorities instructed personnel in the affected sections of the Pentagon to remain in designated safe areas until the situation is fully brought under control.
