Beirut, Jun 19 (V7N) – At least 16 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes and shelling in Lebanon’s southern Nabatieh district, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).
The attacks, which began after midnight on Thursday, have been described by local authorities as among the most intense Israeli strikes in the area in recent times. Several residential buildings were targeted during the overnight assault, leaving many others injured and some still missing.
According to NNA, Israeli strikes hit several locations, including Nabatieh city, Kfar Jouz, Kfar Remen and Zebdin. Additional airstrikes were later reported in the Kfar Tibnit and Rayhan mountain areas.
Local reports said at least eight people were killed in strikes in the Nabatieh and Harouf areas. Another four people died after a residential building between Al-Sharqiya and Dour was hit, while three others were killed in an attack on Kfar Sir.
The agency also reported that a drone strike targeting a motorcycle near the Duyir municipality building killed one person and injured another.
The latest strikes have further heightened tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, where exchanges of fire have continued amid broader regional instability.
