Tehran, Jun 30 (V7N) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran will fulfill its commitments under any agreement provided the United States also adheres to its obligations, while warning that Tehran will respond firmly to any threats against the country.

In a post on social media platform X on Monday, Pezeshkian stressed that mutual understanding and cooperation require commitment from both sides.

"Mutual understanding is a matter for both parties. If the U.S. side abides by the agreement, we will also fulfill our promises," he wrote.

Although he did not mention U.S. President Donald Trump by name, the Iranian president's remarks were widely seen as directed at the U.S. administration.

Pezeshkian said Iran's policy is to respond to "unreasonable accusations and baseless threats" by prioritizing reason and human dignity in its decision-making.

"However, when it comes to practical steps, we will take a firm, uncompromising and unwavering position," he added.

The statement comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain unresolved despite recent diplomatic contacts and discussions aimed at easing disputes between the two countries.

Analysts say Pezeshkian's comments reflect a dual message: expressing Iran's willingness to keep the door open for negotiations while reaffirming that Tehran will firmly defend its national security and sovereignty against any perceived threats.
