Beirut, Jul 10 (V7N)- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun held a high-level meeting with Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal on Friday to review the country's security situation, with particular focus on the continuing Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon.
The President's Office disclosed the meeting in a statement published on the social media platform X.
According to the statement, the two officials assessed the security conditions in villages and towns across southern Lebanon, where Israeli military operations have continued in recent weeks.
They also discussed developments along the border and exchanged views on possible measures to address the evolving security challenges.
The meeting further focused on preparations for implementing the Israel-Lebanon framework agreement, including plans for its phased implementation in selected pilot areas.
Under the proposed plan, the Lebanese Armed Forces will be deployed in areas vacated by Israeli troops as they gradually withdraw, with the aim of strengthening security and maintaining stability along the border.
The Lebanese presidency said the coordinated deployment is intended to support the implementation of the agreement and contribute to long-term security in the region.
