Jul 18 (V7N)- The United States has carried out a fresh round of airstrikes in southern Iran, marking the seventh consecutive night of military operations, according to reports by Iran International.

Iranian media said multiple explosions were heard late Friday night in the southern port cities of Bandar Abbas and Siri, shortly after the latest wave of US airstrikes began.

Meanwhile, Tehran claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a Thai-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz after it allegedly ignored warnings and attempted to pass through the strategic waterway without authorization.

According to a report by Axios, the Trump administration is considering a significant expansion of the US military campaign against Iran and is planning to deploy dozens of additional aerial refueling aircraft to Israel to support future operations.

On Friday, Iran also claimed it had launched an attack on a US special operations command center in Syria's Al-Tanf region. However, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) later stated that no American service members were killed or injured in the incident.

US President Donald Trump said the United States was achieving a "major victory" in its campaign against Iran and added that the results of the military operations would become clear soon.

The latest developments come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides continuing military actions and exchanging sharp rhetoric across multiple fronts in the Middle East.
