Washington, Jul 21 (V7N) – US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran will face severe consequences if American soldiers are killed, following the deaths of three US service members in separate incidents in the Middle East.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday (July 20), Trump said Iran would "pay a heavy price" whenever a US soldier is killed.
He added that he had conveyed instructions on the matter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Daniel Caine, and senior US military leaders, according to CNN.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon confirmed that three US soldiers were killed last weekend. Two died in an attack on a US military base in Jordan, while another was killed in northern Iraq.
US military officials also said forensic teams are continuing to examine unidentified human remains recovered from the site of the attack in Jordan. Authorities believe the death toll could increase as the identification process continues.
The latest developments come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns over the security of US forces stationed across the region.
