NEW DELHI, July 25 (V7N)— Indian Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister, releasing an open letter on social platform X in which he stated he has taken full responsibility for the NEET-UG examination question paper leak since day one.

In the detailed letter published on Saturday, Pradhan emphasized that serving the nation remains his highest priority, while outlining the steps taken by the government following the irregularities reported in the NEET-UG exam held on May 3, 2026.

"I have taken responsibility for the NEET-UG exam question leak from the first day and have never turned my back on this situation," Pradhan wrote. He noted that the central government immediately handed the investigation over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), canceled the compromised test, and successfully re-conducted the exam on June 21 with the cooperation of state and district authorities, students, and guardians.

Pradhan highlighted that results published on July 16 were satisfactory and enabled many underprivileged, talented students to secure positions. He also confirmed that starting next year, the NEET-UG exam will transition entirely to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format to prevent future security breaches.

Addressing the unrest that has gripped Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and other parts of the country over the past ten days, Pradhan expressed deep sorrow over political exploitation of the crisis. He accused certain figures in responsible positions of attempting to mislead students and create division.

Explaining his decision to step down, Pradhan stated that he submitted his resignation to prevent anti-national forces from taking advantage of the turmoil, to safeguard national unity, and to ensure students are not entangled in legal complications so they can focus on their education and careers.

Concluding his letter, the outgoing minister expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Cabinet colleagues, and ministry officials for their trust and guidance throughout his tenure.
