Tehran, July 30 (V7N)- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened if the United States continues its threats and interference in regional maritime activities, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement issued on Thursday (July 30), the IRGC said that the continued threats and actions of US officials regarding maritime traffic would make the situation more complicated.
The IRGC claimed that two oil tankers attempted to pass through an unsafe route south of the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday night at the US' instigation. According to the statement, both vessels quickly turned back after a major fire broke out on one of the ships.
The statement said, “The Strait of Hormuz is our territory and the IRGC Navy has full control over it.” It added that no external force located thousands of kilometers away would be allowed to interfere in the strategic waterway.
Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that American forces had carried out a “massive” strike against Iran in response to an attempted missile attack targeting US forces in the Middle East.
