Beirut, Aug 06 (V7N)- At least one person was killed and 12 others were injured after the Israeli military carried out fresh airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to local reports.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the strikes targeted multiple locations in southern Lebanon, alleging that Hezbollah had violated existing agreements.
Before launching the operation, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to civilians in the village of Mansouri, about 25 kilometers from the town of Tibnin, urging residents to move to safer areas.
The IDF said the operation was aimed at what it described as active Hezbollah positions in the region. Videos circulating on social media showed large plumes of smoke rising from the Mansouri area following the strikes.
According to reports, a separate Israeli strike in Tibnin left one person dead and at least 12 others wounded.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah-affiliated fighters claimed responsibility for an attack that killed two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon. According to the claim, the soldiers were killed in an explosion at a building rigged with explosives.
The Israeli military had not officially confirmed the reported deaths of the soldiers at the time of reporting.
The latest exchange of attacks underscores continuing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider regional conflict.
