Tehran, Aug 22 (V7N)- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s threat to launch the “toughest economic campaign in history” against Iran, calling it an old strategy that is destined to fail.

Responding to Trump’s warning, Araghchi said, “This repetitive movie is also written to fail.”

The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the long-running tensions between Washington and Tehran, saying the United States had made similar threats against Iran in the past.

He recalled that nearly 14 years ago, Washington threatened to impose what it described as the toughest sanctions in history on Iran. According to Araghchi, that initiative ultimately failed to achieve its intended objectives.

“We have seen this movie before; the story is the same old one, only the characters are different,” he said.

Araghchi’s remarks indicate that Tehran does not consider the latest US threat to be a fundamentally new strategy. Instead, Iran views the proposed economic pressure as another version of previous US campaigns that, according to Tehran, failed to force the country to change its policies.
