Kathmandu, Sep 02 (V7N)- The death toll from devastating landslides in Nepal has risen to 1,127, while more than 4,500 people remain missing. Rescue operations are continuing across the worst-hit areas.

More than 10,000 members of the Nepalese Army and police are involved in the rescue effort. Rescue teams from several countries, including India and China, have also joined the operation as relief activities continue.

Nepal’s Disaster Management Department said at least 300 buildings have been completely destroyed in the disaster-affected areas, while many other structures have sustained damage.

Large sections of roads and communications infrastructure have also been destroyed, hampering rescue and relief operations.

Authorities said rebuilding the damaged infrastructure and restoring normal life could take at least three months.
